Toronto Gothic
Hart House: Great Hall
Hart House: Great Hall
I was working on this drawing when I came up with the idea for my Toronto Gothic project in 2019. Hart House at the University of Toronto St. George campus was a favourite building of my Dad and I, and I wanted to draw places we enjoyed together. I liked drawing the ornamentation and the arched ceiling, and wanted to draw more buildings with these kind of features. After this revelation, I started to notice what a wonderful collection of Gothic Revival buildings Toronto has. As my Dad was a draftsman, I thought that I could learn drafting and make drawings of these buildings as a sort of homage.
If you order a print and look closely you might find some "easter eggs" - little alterations I made here and there to reference my Dad in the drawing.
Printed on a 17"x22" sheet of Hahnemühle Photo Rag Fine art paper. Limited set of 50 prints.
