Deer Park Presbyterian Church: 3-point perspective
Deer Park Presbyterian Church: 3-point perspective
This is my third drawing of Deer Park Presbyterian Church (near Yonge St. and St. Clair Ave. W), and my first attempt at drawing in 3-point perspective. I did not use a reference photo for this, in fact the church was completely covered in a tarp at the time I drew this. I applied the same sort of methods as I had used for my 2-point perspective drawings with some adjustments to account for the 3rd vanishing point.
The the vanishing points are to the left, right and top - the addition of the top vanishing point gives a realistic perspective, as though you are looking up at the building. This was a technical challenge, as I still based they layout off of the original plans for the building, laying it out line by line as a horizontal plane, then drawing each vertical up to the vanishing point. Since these points, as well as points I needed for scaling, were well off the page I used my trigonometric method for calculating angles, adapted for application in 3-point perspective.
